Helen Bakunowicz, aka the Bakemonger, graduated in 2001 from Brighton University, with a 1st class Honours degree in Fashion Textiles Design.  She has over 13 years experience in the design industry, having started her career working as a textile designer in Como Italy and then New York City. 

Returning to the UK, Helen settled in east London working as a colour and trend forecaster consulting with major global and high street brands worldwide.  This included forecasting colour, womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, interiors, footwear and cultural trends in many countries from South Africa, Poland, the USA and Sri Lanka.  Helen was also lucky to travel extensively for trade fairs, presentations and research purposes.  

Making an exciting change and moving to the beautiful, buzzing Frome with her weather forecasting husband and red setter Dotty, Helen still works as a freelance colour and trend forecaster.  She is also a member of the British Textile Colour Group.

For many years now Helen has baked up a storm at home, experimenting and enthusiastically feeding friends and family.  In recent years however, beautiful bakes and culinary delights have taken over her inspiration boards and hugely dominated them.  Baking has very naturally become Helen's creative medium.  Her love of colour, textiles, art, design and culture culminate in her baked creations.  Now is the time for 'The Bakemonger'.
